The Agnes Etherington Art Centre received 44 paintings from the estate of Dr. Isabel Bader, LLD’09, completing . This gift, which will include this painting by a master of the Dutch 17th century, will play a vital role in Agnes Reimagined.

New connections to Order of Canada
Three members of the »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s community – an expert on hate crime, an authority on food insecurity, and an advocate for inclusion and accessibility – have been appointed to the . Barbara Perry, Artsci’85, MA’87, is a world-renowned expert on hate crime and an authority on right-wing extremism in Canada; Michael Prince, MPA’76, is a leader in social and public policy who has been recognized for his profound contributions to disability rights in Canada; and Valerie Tarasuk, DSc’18, is a professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto and holds a cross-appointment with the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Her research focuses on understanding the scale, characteristics, and health consequences of household food insecurity in Canada. The three »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s alumni were among the 88 recipients announced by Gov. Gen. Mary Simon, LLD’94, on Dec. 18. The Order of Canada is one of the country’s highest honours and was established in 1967. »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s alumnus and member of Parliament John Matheson, Arts’40, LLD’80, was a driving force in its development; he said the Tricolour Society at »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s served as a model for the Order of Canada.
Shelagh Rogers becomes 16th chancellor of »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s
Award-winning broadcast journalist Shelagh Rogers, Artsci’77, was officially installed as »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s University’s 16th chancellor during the first ceremony of Fall Convocation 2024. Her three-year term began in July following her appointment to the role in April 2024. The chancellor is the highest officer and ceremonial head of the university, presiding over convocations, conferring degrees, and chairing annual meetings of the University Council. Chancellor Rogers is the 16th person to hold the position since its creation in 1874, and the second woman to serve in the role. The first was Agnes McCausland Benidickson, who served from 1980 to 1996.
