Strategies to create opportunities for active learning have shown conceptual learning increased; problem solving improved; attendance improved; reduction is failure rates - particularly at-risk students; sense of student identity student; participation and engagement increased; and a positive and more motivated attitude towards learning. An active approach is one in which students are participating in class by interacting with their instructor and peers (e.g., through teamwork, collaborative learning, case studies, discussions, problem-based learning). This session will discuss integration and strategies for active learning approaches in traditional classrooms as well visit and discuss the use of our active learning classrooms here at »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s. Participants will tour the following active learning spaces during this session: (Ellis Hall, rooms 218, 226, 321, 324 | Jeffrey Hall, room 156 | Humphrey Hall, room 223).
