Description:
How can literature and art help us understand each other’s inner worlds? This workshop will explore close reading as a way of empathetically imagining the complex, intersectional identities of others. We will unpack various literary and art pieces including Scarborough by Catherine Hernandez. We will also create a collaborative art piece that will be displayed in Duncan MacArthur Hall. Free copies of Scarborough will be available for »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s students. This workshop is part of the »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s Reads program and the Faculty of Education’s Indigeneity, Inclusion, and Equity Series. Students, staff, and faculty are eligible to receive a Certificate of Participation after attending five IIE workshops/lectures.
