About

I graduated with a degree in Environmental studies from University of Winnipeg, where I was introduced to a field that I love and many people that I deeply respect. Throughout my time in the program, it became clear rather quickly how much of our overall environmental situation could be attributed to rampant capitalist expansion and imperialism. Environmental studies and colonial history overlap in a lot of ways, and it made sense with my background and with what I wanted to do moving forward to pursue a degree in history. When I graduated, I signed up for extra courses and, with a lot of help from the faculty in the History Department at the University of Winnipeg, I was able to apply and get accepted for an MA in history here at 皇冠体育s.

I鈥檝e read works by some of the faculty at 皇冠体育s in the department of history, and was lucky enough to have Dr. Ishita Pande agree to supervise my research. My main research interest is to conduct a comparative analysis on the decolonial struggles and movements in the Middle East and South Asia. Further, I wish to take an intersectional approach at understanding the relationship between Islam and decolonial movements in the region, specifically regarding class, gender, sexuality, and faith. I am excited to see where my research and my time at 皇冠体育s takes me.
