Principal鈥檚 Advisory Group on the Bicentennial Vision

Terms of Reference

Purpose

The Principal鈥檚 Advisory Group on the Bicentennial Vision will advise the Principal during the preparation, refinement, and finalization of Bicentennial Vision document. The group will provide informed, high-level feedback on key ideas, themes, and language, ensure alignment with institutional values and priorities, and strengthen the Vision through strategic insight and critique.

Mandate

The Advisory Group will:

  • Review and provide input on successive drafts of the Bicentennial Vision.
  • Assess alignment between the draft vision and 皇冠体育鈥檚 institutional priorities, including academic excellence, equity, Indigenous engagement, financial sustainability, and global leadership.
  • Identify areas of ambiguity, inconsistency, or overreach and offer constructive alternatives.
  • Help ensure the final Vision reflects the diversity of the 皇冠体育鈥檚 community and is responsive to internal and external feedback received during consultation.
  • Serve as a sounding board for strategic positioning and public communication.

Scope and Duration

  • The Advisory Group is ad hoc and will operate during the Summer and Fall terms of 2025.
  • Its scope is limited to advising on the Vision document itself, not on the details of any implementation or governance structures that may follow.

Composition

The group will be chaired by the Principal and includes:

  • Senior Leadership Team
  • AVP, Indigenous Initiatives
  • Decanal representative
  • Faculty representative
  • Staff representative
  • AMS President or delegate
  • SGPS President or delegate
  • Writer and administrative support

Meetings and Working Methods

  • Meetings will occur on a bi-weekly cycle, with ad hoc working sessions as required, during the Summer of 2025 with the goal of finalizing a document by the start of the Fall 2025 academic term for broad circulation and feedback.
  • Meetings will occur as needed during the Fall of 2025 with the goal of finalizing a document to be submitted for approval at the December meeting of the Board of Trustees.
  • Materials (e.g., draft versions, summaries of consultation feedback) will be circulated in advance.
  • Members may be asked to provide written feedback and engage with members of their constituencies between meetings.
  • The Principal鈥檚 Office will coordinate meeting logistics and documentation.

Reporting and Confidentiality

  • The Advisory Group will provide direct advice to the Principal.
  • Unless otherwise noted by the Principal, drafts and deliberations will be treated as confidential until formally released.
  • A high-level summary of the group鈥檚 contributions may be shared with the university community when the final Vision is released.
