Flags lowered in memory of E.R. Yendt

Flags on campus are lowered in memory of E.R. Yendt, medical doctor and »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s University professor emeritus.
Dr. Yendt obtained his MD and residency training in Toronto and undertook a research fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He served as chair of the Department of Medicine at »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s from 1968 to 1976, after which he continued his career in clinical investigation, teaching and patient care at »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s. He published his last research paper at the age of 83 and continued to see patients until the age of 86.
Dr. Yendt was the recipient of numerous awards, including a 50th Anniversary Award from the Canadian Cancer Society, the Lindsay Fraser Memorial Award from the Osteoporosis Society of Canada, and the Canada 125 Medal. He has served as vice-president of the American Clinical and Climatological Society, President of the Canadian Society of Nephrology, and as President of the National Cancer Institute.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 pm on Thursday, August 8 at the Robert J. Reid & Sons’ The Chapel on the Corner, 309 Johnson Street (at Barrie Street), Kingston. Funeral Service will take place at 2 pm on Friday, August 9 at St. George's Cathedral (corner of Johnson St. & King St). Private interment at Cataraqui Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation, Ottawa Heart Institute or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
