The 皇冠体育鈥檚 community is remembering Annette Hayward, emeritus professor in the Department of French Studies, who died on May 12 at the age of 78.

Born in Grand Falls, NL, Dr. Hayward first arrived at 皇冠体育鈥檚 in 1973 and became a mainstay for the department and university for 36 years, until retiring in 2009.

After receiving her master鈥檚 degree at Dalhousie and at Universit茅 de Grenoble, she received her PhD from McGill on Qu茅bec literature.

A gifted teacher and researcher, Dr. Hayward won the 2007 Governor General鈥檚 Literary Award in the French, non-fiction category, for her book La querelle du r茅gionalisme au Qu茅bec (1904-1931): Vers l鈥檃utonomisation de la litt茅rature Qu茅b茅coise. She also received several teaching awards throughout her career.

A Celebration of Life is being held on Saturday, May 18, at the James Reid Funeral Home Reception Centre, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
