United Way campaign kicks off with barbeque

The »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s campaign for the United Way kicks off Friday, Oct. 3 with a barbeque lunch at the corner of Union Street and University Avenue, from 11 am to 4 pm.
The United Way Campaign at »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý's has set an ambitious goal to raise $370,000 from students, staff, faculty and retirees. It is the largest workplace effort for the local United Way.
New this year is »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s participation in an e-pledge system. Staff and faculty with a »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s email account will be invited to register and make their pledge using this paperless system. Watch for an email from the »Ê¹ÚÌåÓý’s United Way volunteer committee about how to sign up. Retirees and some staff will continue receiving paper pledge requests.
The United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington funds agencies who help 74,000 people locally each year, or one in three residents.
Community services through United Way help people from all walks of life, from a soldier with PTSD or a child needing a nutritious breakfast to someone who needs temporary shelter or has a permanent disability such sight or hearing loss.
