A Key Initiative of the 皇冠体育's Strategy

The Principal鈥檚 Global Scholars and Fellows Program is a university-wide initiative to increase academic and research activity between 皇冠体育鈥檚 faculty members, students, and post-doctoral fellows in 皇冠体育鈥檚 four priority geographies (Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean, South Asia, Southeast Asia).

It also supports faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and students displaced by war, conflict, and political instability.

The program is comprised of two streams.

Stream 1: Principal鈥檚 Global Scholars

Principal鈥檚 Global Scholars provides forcibly displaced students and those who hold precarious immigration status with an admissions pathway and funding to complete their degree at 皇冠体育鈥檚.

Undergraduate Students

The Principal鈥檚 Global Scholars at the undergraduate level will be identified through 皇冠体育鈥檚 long-standing partnership with the .

This program provides resettlement in Canada and access to post-secondary education to refugees in selected countries of asylum. The Principal鈥檚 Global Scholars and Fellows Program expands 皇冠体育鈥檚 commitment to WUSC and we encourage interested applicants to visit  for information on how to apply.

Graduate Students

The Principal鈥檚 Global Scholars Award for Graduate Students supports newly admitted students who have experienced forced migration within the past five years in eligible, full-time research-based graduate degree programs and the Smith MBA program. This is a two year pilot program.

Five awards will be made annually. One $25,000 (one time) award for the Smith MBA program and four $10,000 awards (one time) for students in all other eligible programs. More information and application deadlines for 2025-26 will be available shortly.

Stream 2: Principal鈥檚 Global Fellows

Principal鈥檚 Global Fellows Program provides funding to increase academic and research activity between 皇冠体育鈥檚 faculty members in the four priority geographies identified in 皇冠体育鈥檚 Global Engagement Strategic Plan. It also supports faculty and post-doctoral fellows displaced by war, conflict, and political instability.

Principal鈥檚 Global Fellows Fund

The Fund provides up to C$10,000 for 皇冠体育鈥檚 faculty members and their counterparts in the four priority regions identified in the 皇冠体育鈥檚 Global Engagement Strategic Plan (Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean, South Asia, and Southeast Asia) to collaborate for the purposes of advancing an academic, research, student learning, or scholarly initiative. 

Faculty members from the partner university will be designated Principal鈥檚 Global Fellows.

Priority will be given to collaborations with 皇冠体育鈥檚 strategic partner institutions.

Scholars at Risk 

Support for displaced faculty members is provided through 皇冠体育鈥檚 existing partnerships with , the and , the , and other international and national organizations. Support is provided for one academic year, with the possibility of renewal.
